Alisson record leaves Lionel Messi frustrated and Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk's brilliant response

Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson has now kept nine consecutive clean sheets, and his latest unstoppable display left Argentina and Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi feeling miserable.

The Reds' keeper was in imperious form for Jurgen Klopp's side in his debut campaign as he recorded 21 shutouts in the Premier League to be crowned Golden Glove winner, and the 25-year-old is showing no signs of letting up.

Since Messi's thunderous free-kick at the Camp Nou in the Champions League semi-final Alisson has conceded just one goal, that came away to Newcastle United.

Alisson has already claimed the Copa America golden glove with one game to play after another special performance for Brazil who knocked Argentina out of the competition with a 2-0 win.

Following Gabriel Jesus' opener, the Argentine captain did have a chance to level things up with a set-piece on the edge of the box.

But Alisson was equal to it as he leaped into the corner to collect Messi's pinpoint dispatch.

And while many fans have suggested Alisson should win the Ballon d'Or, Virgil van Dijk also had a special message for his team-mate.

Liverpool's official Twitter shared a post congratulating the No. 1 on his ninth shutout in-a-row.

Van Dijk responded with the perfect gif of actor Robert Redford giving the nod of approval as the camera moves towards him.

Alisson and Van Dijk's defensive nous led the Reds to a 97-point haul in the league as well as Champions League glory in Madrid.

Tite's squad who triumphed 2-0 over their South American rivals, thanks to a goal and assist from a dazzling Roberto Firmino, will now play in Sunday's final.
