Alisson left out of Brazil squad as Liverpool goalkeeper faces race to be fit for Merseyside derby

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been left out of the Brazil squad for their upcoming qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed at his weekly press conference that his side will be without their stopper for their upcoming games against Bournemouth and Atletico Madrid next week.

But his absence from his national team suggests that the Reds could be without their goalkeeper until at least early April.

“No, next week not [available],” Klopp said when asked if the 27-year-old could return for his side’s crucial Champions League last-16 encounter against Atletico.

“I don’t want to say no [for the Merseyside derby] but I don’t know if he will be available. He is not available for the next week, not for tomorrow and not the next week.

“Then we have to judge the situation new. I would say after the international break he is back 100 per cent, whatever we can get before that we will see.”

Brazil boss Tite has named Weverton, Ederson and Ivan as his three goalkeepers for his side’s upcoming qualifiers, while Reds pair Fabinho and Roberto Firmino have both been named in the 24-man squad.
