Alisson explains moment in training he suffered Liverpool injury

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has explained how he suffered the shoulder injury which ruled him out of three Reds matches earlier this month.

The Brazilian stopper picked up the knock in training ahead of Liverpool's 7-2 defeat at Aston Villa and missed the Merseyside derby and the Champions League opener at Ajax before returning to the side for Saturday's Premier League win over Sheffield United.

Alisson revealed in Monday's press conference ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League clash against FC Midtjylland how he defied an initial prognosis from the club's doctors of a potential four-to-six week lay off in his determination to get back in the side.

And he told BT Sport how the incident which caused the injury happened during a Liverpool training session.

"It was a challenge for a high ball", Alisson said.

"I made a challenge with a defender and then I wasn’t waiting for the challenge so when I dropped over my shoulder and I twist on it so I was painful.

"My feeling at that moment was I thought something weird on the shoulder and I felt I could play the next day but we went to a scan.

"It was already my goal to come back quickly.

"When the doctor gave us a timeframe, I thought ‘no, I will not be gone for that long’, so I concentrated to be back as quick as I could and I put my own goal, my own target.

"They believed in that, they push me on that - they respected the timeframe and my feeling but I was training since a week ago already so when I gave green light to the boss I was really ready for the game.

"Adrian was doing well so no need to rush but I am 100 percent fit."
