Alisson Becker's cheeky message to Naby Keita as Liverpool midfielder returns

Alisson Becker has welcomed Liverpool's injury crisis being eased - and revealed the cheeky message he gave Naby Keita.

Keita made his first appearance in almost a month as a second-half substitute in the 5-0 Champions League win at Atalanta on Tuesday.

Kostas Tsimikas also emerged from the bench for only his second appearance since signing from Olympiakos in the summer, while Joel Matip was back among the substitutes after missing the last four games.

And with Liverpool preparing for a blockbusting Premier League visit to Manchester City on Sunday, Alisson believes the return of the trio is timely.

"The last weeks have been difficult times because we have lost some important players in our team, but now we have many coming back as well," said the goalkeeper.

"Joel was here as well and he is a player we need on the pitch. We need everybody fit.

"Naby coming back as well, I told him ‘Holidays are off now for you, Naby!’.

"It’s good to have the boys back. We have a big challenge now, but I’m really happy with what we are doing on the pitch."

Alisson has also praised centre-backs Rhys Williams, who played alongside Joe Gomez at Atalanta, and Nat Phillips, who was the England international's partner in Saturday's Premier League triumph over West Ham United.

"Rhys is a really good lad, he is always asking me to speak with him and talk with him on the pitch, so he is humble," the goalkeeper said to liverpoolfc.com. "He works hard and this helped him a lot.

"Nat, I’m really happy for the way he played on Saturday. It was more difficult for him because he has gone a long time without playing, coming back from an injury.

"He was prepared in his mind but I think he wasn’t waiting for this opportunity. He grabbed it with both hands and did really well and I’m happy for him."
