Alisson Becker injury update as Jurgen Klopp admits his Liverpool return could 'take some time'

Jurgen Klopp admits it will “take some time” before Alisson Becker is ready to return for Liverpool as he issued an update on the goalkeeper's fitness.

Alisson has been missing since limping out of the Premier League opener against Norwich City three weeks ago with a calf problem

New signing Adrian has deputised and will again be between the sticks as the Reds look to extend their 100% start to the top-flight season at Burnley on Saturday evening .

Alisson was pictured in a protective leg brace shortly after the injury, but was moving freely when in Monaco on Thursday night to accept his award as UEFA Champions League goalkeeper for last season.

And while praising the Brazil international, Klopp has intimated the player isn't close to first-team consideration.

“He has made of course steps, but it was a proper injury,” said the Reds boss. “It will still take time.

“Always with a professional sportsperson when you have a muscle thing and it takes long, it also takes a while until you can bring the muscle at least at the same level as it was before.

“The calf muscle is pretty important for jumping and for a goalie it's quite important that he can jump from time to time.

“It will take time. But thank God, and hopefully it stays like this, we have a fit Adrian.

“I am really happy with everything I have seen (from him) so far. He's a good guy, which is important, but it's most important that he can catch balls, and he's good at that as well.

“The solution we found for it is really good. It would be better if Ali could be around, but that will take some time.”
