Alisson Becker injury: The games Liverpool’s goalkeeper could miss as he's ruled out for 'next few weeks'

Liverpool are set to be without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker for a number of key games after manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed he would miss ‘the next few weeks’.

The German refused to put a specific time frame on a return for his No1, who limped off midway through the first half of Liverpool’s 4-1 opening day win over Norwich at Anfield on Friday.

However, it seems likely that the Reds will have to make do without Alisson for the rest of August, and possibly into September.

The 26-year-old is definitely out of Wednesday night’s Uefa Super Cup clash with Chelsea in Istanbul, as well as next weekend’s first away game of the Premier League season, at Southampton.

The following weekend, Liverpool host ‘Big Six’ rivals Arsenal, with a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley rounding off the month.

At the start of September comes the season’s first international break.

Brazil are scheduled to face Colombia and Peru in friendlies in Miami and Los Angeles, but it is highly unlikely that Alisson will join up with the squad if he is yet to return for his club side, so Liverpool should have an extra two weeks to work on his fitness ahead of their league meeting with Newcastle on September 14.

Liverpool’s next five fixtures

Chelsea (N) – August 14 (Uefa Super Cup)

Southampton (A) – August 17 (Premier League)

Arsenal (H) – August 24 (Premier League)

Burnley (A) – August 31 (Premier League)

Newcastle (H) – September 14 (Premier League)
