Alisson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain given new Liverpool squad numbers

Alisson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have taken up new squad numbers at Liverpool, the club has confirmed.

Reds goalkeeper Alisson will no longer sport the number 13, which he was handed when he joined the club from Roma for £67million last summer. He will now wear the number 1.

Lloris Karius, the previous owner of the number 1 shirt, is still out on loan with Besiktas.

Oxlade-Chamberlain meanwhile will no longer wear the number 21 shirt, which he has worn since joining the club from Arsenal.

The Liverpool midfielder will now wear the number 15 shirt, which was previously occupied by Daniel Sturridge, who recently left the club on a free.

Liverpool's pre-season friendlies kick-start on July 11 when the Reds take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on July 11.

From there Liverpool travel to Yorkshire to take on Bradford City before heading to Scotland to take on Napoli at BT Murrayfield.

Liverpool's penultimate pre-season friendly takes place in Switzerland, where the Reds face Lyon at the Stade de Geneve.

Anfield hosts Liverpool's final 2019/20 warm-up match on August 6 as Jurgen Klopp's men play host to Bundesliga giants Schalke.
