Alison Hammond speaks out on This Morning partnership with Dermot O'Leary

Alison Hammond has admitted she still "needs to bond" with her This Morning co-host Dermot O'Leary.

Alison and Dermot took over presenting duties on a Friday in January, taking over the reins from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

On Friday's show Alison was chatting to show guest Lizzie Gee and her son Rufus, eight.

Rufus and his mum took up tap dancing in lockdown, and Rufus said that it had helped the pair bond over the past year - reports Birmingham Live.

Alison said: "I am actually speechless at how good at tap dancing you are, because I actually did tap dancing when I was a kid."

And then Alison made a comment about her and Dermot's relationship.

She said: "It's just a really nice thing to do isn't it, to bond? And I feel like me and Dermot, we still need to bond."

Some viewers haven't taken to Alison and Dermot, with many saying they feel like the chemistry isn't right between the pair.

Eamonn and Ruth returned to the show to present during February half term and lots of viewers said they preferred them and wanted them to return full time.

And on Friday viewers took to Twitter to call for Eamonn and Ruth to have a bigger part on the ITV show.

One said: "They should replace Alison and Dermot with Ruth and Eamonn. as Alison and Dermot simply don’t work on the show."

A second said: "Notice how Dermot & Alison don’t have their own opening titles like Eamonn & Ruth do when they’re hosting on a Friday?"

And a third said: "When will they finally realise and admit that Alison and Dermot isn’t working. You can’t force chemistry. Get Ruth and Eamonn back. It’s what we all want."
