Alison Hammond sobbed on camera during Celebs Go Dating last night as she admitted piling on weight because "I don't love myself".
The heartbreaking confession came as the telly star, 45, struggled to find romance on the E4 show.
During a chat with dating experts Paul Carrick Brunson and Anna Williamson, Alison was told she wasn't trying hard enough on dates.
Anna said: "[There’s always] an emphasis placed on somebody else having a great time.
"If someone does present [themselves] with such great joy, as you do, we always wonder if there’s a reason for that masking anything.
"Have you ever felt any hurt through a relationship?"
Breaking down in tears, Alison admitted the breakdown of her parents' marriage continues to affect her.
She replied: "Just with my dad… it’s just abandonment issues.
"I was always happy for my mum, I wanted her to be happy, because he wasn’t there for her."
She went on to suggest her crippling emotional pain caused her to pile on the pounds as she's long struggled with her weight.
Alison added: "I think that’s the reason why I put on so much weight, because I don’t care, I don’t love myself," she continued, heartbreakingly.
"Maybe I’m not ready for a relationship yet. Because I don’t love me."
Alison failed to find love on the show, and was left devastated when reality star James Lock, 33, snubbed her.
During an appearance on This Morning, she explained: "I fell in love with James Lock. I was like, this Greek god is on the show. He made my heart sing.
"He actually said, 'Alison, you're my perfect girlfriend personality-wise.' - I was absolutely devastated.
"So I went to the gym and worked out! So personality-wise I'm his perfect girl."
