Alison Hammond says UK's 'core is rotten' after racist trolls target England stars

Alison Hammond has claimed the UK will 'never prosper' due to it's 'rotten core' as she shared her upset over the racist abuse directed at England's football stars over the last two days.

The emotional This Morning presenter has been left incensed by the vicious trolling of England’s black players following Sunday night’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy at Wembley.

Alison took to her Twitter account today to retweet a powerful message shared by Leigh-Anne Pinnock from the pop group Little Mix.

“My heart breaks!!,” admitted Alison. “The UK will never prosper when its core is rotten!”

Striker Marcus Rashford and forwards Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka have received sickening abuse from some supporters after missing their penalties.

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne, who featured in documentary about racism, posted a black and white photo of the four iconic players on the girl group’s official Twitter page with a powerful message condemning racism.

“You can live here but be quiet,” read the message, which was retweeted nearly 13,000 times.

“You can work here but now all of you.

“You can speak at the table but not too loud.

“You can play for us but you can’t lose.

“Ladies and gentleman I give you the Black British Experience.

“We stand with you Kings, x Leigh.”

And TV personality Alison is right behind Leigh-Anne and many other people in the country who have been left outraged by the disgusting racist abuse suffered by the England players.

Many of Alison’s 368,700 Twitter followers agreed with her strong message and were quick to comment on her tweet.

“This is perfect, the thread is perfect,” agreed one fan. “White people telling a beautiful bold black woman exactly how to feel.

“Hitting the nail on the head @AlisonHammond,” echoed another. “Its core is rotten."

A small number of Alison's followers took issue with her describing parts of the UK as 'rotten.'

“The core isn’t rotten, the Apple has a few scabs that need picking & disposing of,” stressed one follower. “Please do not judge us all by the disgusting few.”

“She said ‘the core’ plus it’s for everyone to judge isn’t it?” argued a fan on the Twitter thread.

“Don’t you want that to change to? Or should only black people have to fight for change?”

“I think it’s a very few, I watched these boys thinking they were brave and amazing, I think the core of this country isn’t rotten, the way people have loved this has proved it,” offered another fan.

To which Alison replied: “He who feels it knows it!”

“Alison has not judged you or "all",” stressed one passionate fan. “She made a statement about the core of the UK being rotten.

“If you count yourself in this statement then this is a reflection of your own white fragility, this is a time to reflect on what we can do to stand up against racism.”
