Alison Hammond responds to hate over Meghan Markle's birthday card for Archie

This Morning host Alison Hammond has hit back at critics of Meghan Markle after they slammed her birthday card from two-year-old son Archie, who she shares with husband Prince Harry.

The artistic card showed Archie from behind holding some balloons, in a photo thought to be shot in the garden at their home in California, with their pet dogs.

Many members of the public took issue with the angle and moaned that they could not see Archie's face in the picture, prompting Alison to defend Meghan and Harry.

Alison explained: "Meghan and Harry have posted a picture of Archie on his second birthday, which is lovely.

"Here it is. But lots of fans are a little bit upset with the fact that you can’t see his face."

She added: "We’ve seen his face before!"

LBC radio presenter Nick Ferrari agreed: "I think it is just a nice photo.

"I think each of them has perhaps done a few missteps in recent months. I would urge everybody, can we just press pause.

"Can we just let them try and live a little?" he asked.

"If they do another interview then, ok, maybe we sharpen our pencils again.

"But can we just let them get on with their life and the little chap, Meghan have a baby… and just afford them a bit of time and space to see where they go?"

Some of the angry tweets about the card included one that read: "Archie's top secret face, that's ridiculous."

Another added: "Wish I could see his beautiful face!"

A third raged: "That could be any kid! Why bother if they can't release a good photo, don't release a photo. Poor kid."

But a This Morning viewer stepped in, and said: "I’d imagine the reason we’ve not seen Archie’s face is because the disgusting trolls start criticising the little boy’s appearance, start speculating on his parents and they’re sick of it. #ThisMorning ".

Another penned: "Alison is apparently upset #ThisMorning Alison, don't be You are more than entitled to your opinion We genuinely love you on telly."
