Alison Hammond praised from fans as she takes on 'new job' away from ITV

Alison Hammond was flooded with support from fans as she broke her social media hiatus to reveal she had taken on a new role away from This Morning.

The ITV presenter has been quiet across her platforms since the daytime TV show was hit with the Phillip Schofield scandal in which he had an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague

Earlier in June, Alison became emotional on screen when she broke her silence on her former co-star Schofield's first TV interview since he was embroiled in the drama, reports Manchester Evening News.

The father-of-two resigned from the broadcaster and was dropped from his agency YMU after he admitted having an affair and lying to his employers, co-host Holly Willoughby and his family about it.

After the show aired footage from an interview Schofield had done with the BBC's Amol Rajan in which the disgraced presenter discussed his mental health following the revelations, Alison became upset.

She said: "I loved Phillip Schofield. It's weird because I still love him. As a family, we're all really struggling to process everything.

“My mum always said use your bible as your sat nav. He without sin cast the first stone. I don't want to say anything bad because I am in conflict." Alison's emotional display then continued as she said: "There is only so much a man can take."

While she has returned to This Morning following the emotional episode, she has laid low on social media until Thursday, June 15, when she updated fans on her new temporary role, as part of some advertising work.

The adored TV star had commuters in hysterics after she turned up to London's Paddington Station. She announced she had become the chief inspector for Virgin Trains.

In the social media video, Alison was seen encouraging the public to use the Virgin Trains Ticketing app, announcing, "I am the Chief Points Inspector today here at Paddington. It is absolutely amazing." She tweeted: "I'm dressed like this, I am absolutely loving it." And on Instagram, she cheekily added: "Do you think I can keep the hat?" as she sported a red sparkling jacket and train driver hat.

And as she shared the advertising posts to social media, fans were quick to comment as they thanked the 48-year-old and praised her. @jayne_ellen68 said: "You make the world a happier place. Thank you for always making me smile." @schamp96 commented: "I love this. You honestly make me laugh all the time."

@kaell52 wrote: "Alison you are fabulous." @surfinbutterfly replied: "Love this, you’re so refreshingly positive and joyful." @caw2star7 shared: "@alisonhammond55, you are a real breath of fresh air. I love seeing what you get up to because your a great crowd pleaser. Well done you."

@wishvintage posted: "Look how happy everyone is to see you, you are so awesome." @karenmanders10 added: "You are such an amazing person , you bring so much happiness to where ever you go."
