Alison Hammond swiftly changes subject on This Morning after Prince Andrew 'FBI' remark

Alison Hammond was left in an awkward situation on This Morning on Thursday.

A guest made a remark about Prince Andrew speaking to the FBI - and Alison swiftly tried to change the subject.

Alison and her co host Dermot O'Leary were joined by Julia Hartley Brewer and Nicola Thorp who were discussing Prince Philip's funeral after it was revealed members of the royal family will now not wear military uniform for the occasion, The Mirror reports.

Nicola said: "I think we are all talking about uniforms when, again, I think we should probably be talking about the fact that Prince Andrew has not spoken to the FBI."

Alison said sheepishly: "Awks...Let's not go there!" before changing the subject.

"Well hang on a minute... I need to process that," laughed an embarrassed looking Dermot.

"Good point!" quipped Julia.

Andrew stepped down from royal duties after his disastrous appearance on BBC Newsnight in November 2019, where his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was fully exposed.

It follows claims that Andrew has not spoken to the FBI after the organisation asked him to help them with the investigation into Epstein's criminal behaviour.

Last year, The Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York said: "We would welcome Prince Andrew coming in to speak to us and giving us an opportunity to hear his statement."

But Prince Andrew was said to be "bewildered" that the FBI claims he has not helped them with the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's criminal behaviour with underage girls.

A source close to the duke's working group said that his lawyers have twice communicated with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) in July 2020.

"The duke's team remains bewildered given that we have twice communicated with the DOJ in the last month and to date we have had no response," the source said.
