Alison Hammond makes big Line of Duty blunder during This Morning interview

Alison Hammond made a big error today as she interviewed Gregory Piper, who plays PC Ryan Pilkington from Line of Duty.

Gregory's character is one of the most hated in the series, with viewers left angry by his actions every week.

Gregory has been in the show since series one and said how fortunate he felt to be involved with the BBC drama.

He appeared on This Morning today to speak about the latest series and chatted to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Gregory failed to give much away about what the future episodes hold in store for Ryan and his co-stars, but admitted that his character was pretty nasty.

But Alison made an error as she asked him: "Do you think he will actually kill someone." because Ryan has already killed someone in the series as he drowned a fellow officer in the lake.

Ryan was also the one who killed DS John Corbett in series five by slitting his throat with a knife.

Gregory nervously laughed said: "Well you've seen what he's done in the past."

And viewers were quick to point out Alison's blunder on social media.

H said: "Alison obvs doesn’t watch as he’s already killed someone in the lake!"

Leanne Thomas said: "Do you think he will kill someone?” Clearly Alison is not watching line of duty. She does ask some unprofessional questions at times because she should at least pretend she watches it."

Ryan said: "Alison, Ryan has already killed someone."

Lesley Caan said: "Have you even watched #LOD @AlisonHammond?? How far will your character go? Will he actually murder someone? PC Pilkington has already murdered someone!!!"

*Line of Duty continues at 9pm on BBC1 on Sunday
