Alison Hammond makes big career move as she becomes host of hit BBC show

Alison Hammond is set to co-host a hit BBC quiz show netting another 'win' for the popular presenter.

The This Morning star will team up with TV frontman Vernon Kaye with the duo set to replace Ant and Dec as hosts of a classic quiz show Friends Like These.

Vernon has been busy guest presenting ITV 's one-off Loose Men and is a well-known quiz show host presenting a string of shows including classic Family Fortunes.

Alison already took on a coveted role to become This Morning's regular Friday presenter earlier this year.

And now she will be adding to her presenting portfolio with landing another gig, Birmingham Mail reports.

A source told the Sun newspaper: “The BBC are filming a pilot for Friends Like These with Vernon and Alison in the New Year.

“Everyone involved in the reworking on the show is so excited to get started.

“They think they can make a real success of it."

The source added: “Friends Like These was a fun, family favourite TV show and it will easily slide back into the schedules.

“Vernon and Alison are good pals and have great chemistry off screen. So once the cameras are rolling those behind the reboot think it could be magical.”

And Alison's got other ideas in the pipeline as she's set her sights on a Saturday-night chat show.

She has even planned the format, with space for an interview with a "mega- star", and chats with a "normal person doing something amazing".

Alison, 46, told My Weekly : "There’s a section all about me and what I’ve been up to.

"Then more of a local celebrity, like Peter Andre. Then I’ll finish off the show with another big number all about me, with dancers."

Alison was due to film a chat show pilot, but it was shelved due to Covid.

She added: "I would really love to have my own show called Alison Hammond.

"We have to put this out into the universe."

Alison has carved a career for herself in the tough TV industry after appearing on reality show Big Brother nearly two decades ago.

She was swiftly snapped up join the Loose Women panel as a guest and went on to ITV's This Morning where she landed the job of UK showbiz correspondent.

She wasn't at all phased interviewing Hollywood's elite.

Stints on Celebrity Coach Trip, I'm a Celebrity and Strictly have also been listed in her string of reality appearances.
