Alison Hammond drops engagement bombshell amid claims gardener boyfriend proposed

Alison Hammond has insisted she is not engaged to partner Ben Hawkins.

Earlier this week, her would be father-in-law Colin Hawkins had said the couple had "proposed to one another" but appearing on This Morning today, Alison denied she had secretly got engaged and insisted there was no plans just yet.

She said that if she had got engaged, she would be posting it all over social media as her co-presenter Dermot O'Leary admitted he was disappointed to hear she wasn't engaged as he wanted to walk her down the aisle.

Alison and Ben were pictured together for the first time this week, just a day after she hosted the BAFTAs.

Her co-star Dermot said: "I hear a congratulations are in order, someone is getting married," as wedding music played, before Alison confirmed she was not engaged yet and joked if she was, it would be all over her social media.

"Cut the music! I'm not engaged, I'm so sorry I'm not engaged!" she said, before adding: "I told you, if I was ever to get engaged or get married I would be the first person to tell you! I'd put all over Instagram and TikTok!"

She shared: "Sorry, it's fake news! I'm not getting married. One day it might happen, but sorry babes but it's fake news," before insisting to her co-star Dermot that he would be the "first to know".

"I was looking forward to walking you down the aisle!" Dermot joked before talk turned to the topics of the day.

Colin Hawkins, 72, previously told of how happy Ben and Alison were, adding to the Mail Online : "I do know they have both proposed to one another but there are no rings that I know of," sparking rumours of an engagement.

The newly engaged couple were snapped together for the first time last week, as she left Ben's home in Birmingham.

Colin also gushed about how incredible Alison was.

"I love Alison to bits. She's the nicest woman we've ever met," he said, "If you go to her when you're in trouble, she will help you, that's the way she is. I know they will get it together and I won't be there to see it but it will be a very proud day for me.

"I will be Alison's father-in-law and that'll be lovely."
