Alison Hammond caught out live on This Morning after sneaking off

Alison Hammond was caught out on This Morning today as she snuck off for a chat.

The host was back at the helm of the ITV show on Thursday alongside Dermot O'Leary.

The pair have been hosting the popular programme all week while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy their half-term break.

But Alison got a bit too comfortable as she completely "forgot" she was live on air.

They were joined by resident chef Clodagh McKenna who instead of whipping up a delicious meal, gave viewers some tips on "autumnal tablescaping".

She was live from the ground of her home in Hampshire as she chatted away to the hosts back in the studio.

Coming back from the segment, Dermot was sitting on his own and while her mug was still in her place, Alison was nowhere to be seen.

An exasperated Dermot remarked: "Oh for god sake!" as Alison was over on the This Morning sofa chatting away to Married At First UK's Paul Brunson.

Recognising the camera was on her, she asked Dermot: "Am I on telly? Are we on the telly?!

"No we're not. Are we on the telly?" she added before turning to Paul: "Oh we should finish, sorry!"

Alison ran back to her seat as Dermot sighed at his co-host.

"That's so rude," she laughed. "Clodagh I was just having a little chat with Paul."

Alison admitted while laughing: "That's terrible."

Alison rushed back to her spot (ITV)

But viewers were all for Alison getting her chat on.

"Who wouldn't want to take time out of This Morning to sit next to such a lush gentleman? You go for it Alison," tweeted one.

Another said: "It was like we'd just caught Alison sitting on the desk chatting up the new guy #thismorning."
