Alison Hammond addresses calls for her to be axed from For The Love of Dogs

Alison Hammond has hit back at trolls who called for her to be removed from ITV's For The Love Of Dogs.

The veteran TV presenter, 50, took over hosting duties for the show after the death of Paul O'Grady in 2023.

But Hammond's famous enthusiasm hasn't won over all fan of the show.

She told The Guardian: “People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For The Love of Dogs. He might be but I’m doing it. Deal with it! I know my worth. Besides, my mum would have been so proud. That’s the reason I do this. She’s my guiding light.

Hammond told the interviewer she is "good at saying no" and she will turn down jobs if she needs rest or if the offer doesn't appeal to her.

The TV star, who found fame on the third season of Big Brother in 2002, said she was “tickled” by a Tiktok clip in which a woman objected to her appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, ranting “We’re sick of the bloody sight of you”.

Hammond said: “Not everyone likes me... I like these, because they humble me They remind me I’m not all that. She hates my guts but that’s all right.”

Hammond and Noel Fielding will be returning to host The Great British Bake Off as the next season of the Channel 4 show returns on September 2, with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood judging the contestants’ treats.

Alison has made headlines after losing 11 stone and reversing a pre-diabetic diagnosis.

The presenter told Closer earlier this year how she overhauled her lifestyle, saying she uses a personal trainer - and that she “eat[s] everything, but in moderation”.

“I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing,” she said.

“She trains me when I can train. If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk. But when I’m at home, I’ll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour.”
