Alison Hammond accused of being 'disrespectful' during This Morning phone-in

This Morning viewers were quick to accuse Alison Hammond of being "disrespectful" during today's phone-in.

Vet Dr Scott appeared on the ITV show today to help viewers with their pet dilemmas.

One of the first callers wanted advice after her dog was suffering from a phantom pregnancy.

Alison started to giggle, but Dr Scott quickly stepped in and said: "It's not funny Alison".

The caller sounded distressed and Alison apologised, saying she never knew that was a real thing.

The segment continued and another caller said she had a problem as her cat had started to go into another person's home after they had left food out for the neighbourhood cats.

Alison said: "Get another cat." and Dr Scott again admonished Alison and said: "No Alison, sorry about her."

And viewers were quick to slam Alison's comments with several disappointed in the host.

Alison said: "Alison’s really annoying me with this pet dilemma segment, you can tell she doesn’t own a pet. So disrespectful."

Fer said: " @AlisonHammond you were so disrespectful today laughing at the dog who had a phantom pregnancy and the woman who's cat left her for another family, grow up."

Zoe Lauren Savage said: "Alison Hammond is so inappropriate on #thismorning."

drivingmissdaisy said: "The vet is going to swing for Alison in a minute, she just needs to be quiet and listen."

And Steve Lowe said: "Pet problems are not something to laugh at, Alison Hammond!"

*This Morning continues at 10am on ITV on Monday
