Aliko Dangote told how much Arsenal's squad alone will cost if he buys out Stan Kroenke

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has been linked with buying Arsenal for some time.

And the businessman has made no secrets about his desire to acquire the club one day, with current owner, American businessman Stan Kroenke proving not to be the most popular figure among Arsenal fans.

The 'We care do you' campaign, with statements criticising the way that the club was being run by the owner.

Back in January Dangote reiterated his intentions of buying Arsenal at some point in the future: "It is a team that yes I would like to buy some day, but what I keep saying is we have $20billion worth of projects and that's what I really want to concentrate on," he said.

"I'm trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can.

"I'm not buying Arsenal right now, I'm buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects, because I'm trying to take the company to the next level."

Now the Nigerian has been told how much it could possibly cost to complete a deal.

According to the CIES Football Observatory have ranked clubs in the top five European leagues on the value of their playing squad, with the Gunners coming out in 15th place with a value of €624 million.

That means that Dangote may have to spend at least that value in order to acquire Arsenal, although that price is likely to be a lot higher, due to a club's value not only being based on just the value of the playing squad.

Things such as the value of the stadium will also have to be taken into account when selling a club.

In the list, Arsenal are one place below German side RB Leipzig, who are said to have a squad value of €626 million and one place above fellow Premier League side Leicester City with an estimated squad value of €618 million.
