Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone has hit back at "mum shamers" after she confessed she sleeps in the same bed as her 11-year-old son.
The 45-year-old insists that she is "following nature" by sleeping beside Bear Blu.
She explained how she was only doing what humans do when "trying to survive in any kind of wild setting".
The wholefood fanatic and podcast host shares Bear with her ex-husband Christopher Jarecki, who she split from in 2018.
Speaking on The Ellen Fisher Podcast, she admitted: "Bear and I still sleep together".
"If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are wild animals, if you put you baby over there your baby is going to get eaten, so it’s not ideal for the baby to be over there."
She also said how she tried to avoid using nappies when her son was potty training and "never raised her voice at him".
"I believe in love, I believe in nature and our society is scared of nature and scared of love," she said.
She was met with strong criticism for her parenting style and after acknowledging that she is likely to "be in trouble".
But despite this, she shrugged: "‘I don’t really care," insisting that she has "loving" parenting principles.
"The things I’m doing I’m not inventing, I didn’t invent any of it. I would love to take credit for all of it but it’s not me unfortunately, it’s just me following nature", she said.
"I’m just wanted to do what was healthiest for him at every turn so every choice I make is either built on instinct or deep research."
Co-sleeping is widely criticised by experts, with many warning that sharing a bed with a baby can increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
But some argue that "attachment parenting" forms a close bond between the children and parents.
