Alicia Keys collaborates with glam squad to create luminous look

Alicia Keys in red oufit

Alicia Keys is a multifaceted talent who not only captivates audiences with her music but also radiates positivity and warmth wherever she goes. Behind the scenes of her recent PEOPLE digital cover shoot, her glam squad consisting of makeup artist Ayako Yoshimura, hairstylist Tanya “Nena” Melendez, and stylist Jason Bolden worked together to create a look that perfectly captured Keys' luminous aura.

Yoshimura's goal was to enhance Alicia Keys' natural features and bring out her inner light. The makeup artist opted for a minimalistic yet glowing glam, which complemented Bolden's vibrant wardrobe choices. To achieve Keys' luminous complexion, Yoshimura used products from Keys Soulcare, the singer's own beauty line. The Let Me Glow Illuminating Serum served as a primer, while the It's Like Skin 2-in-1 Concealer + Tint (shade 340W) provided additional coverage. Yoshimura added a natural flush of color with the punchy pink Sheer Flush Cheek Tint in shade Powerful and highlighted Keys' eyelids, cheeks, and nose tip with the Gleam On Highlighting Balm. For a subtle coral lip, she mixed the Comforting Tinted Lip Balm with the cheek tint.

Keys Soulcare products, including the aforementioned favorites, are now available on Amazon in the Lifestyle Beauty section. The recently launched Deeply Replenishing Squalene Facial Oil, suitable for all skin types, hydrates and nourishes the skin overnight without clogging pores, making it a must-have addition to any skincare routine.

Melendez, the hairstylist for the shoot, paid homage to Keys' signature style while giving it a fresh twist. She created a playful yet elegant bun with side plaits, a modern interpretation of traditional African braid hairstyles. Using Rizos Curls Refresh & Detangle Spray, RastAFri Pre-Stretch Silky hair extensions, and a combination of pomade and scalp oil, Melendez crafted a truly unique hairstyle that perfectly complemented Keys' overall look.

Keys' stylist, Jason Bolden, is well aware of her love for bold fashion choices and vibrant colors. He makes it a point to select pieces that embody architectural design elements and rich textures. Keys has a keen understanding of what silhouettes flatter her figure, often opting for high-waisted bottoms, crop tops to showcase her midriff, and open-neckline garments that highlight her collarbones. Bolden chose a stunning marigold gown and a vibrant magenta ensemble for the cover and throughout the shoot, as well as a two-piece turquoise Hanifa outfit.

Throughout their collaborations, Keys' trust in her glam squad has been instrumental. They share a strong bond and appreciate moments like these, creating a fun, meaningful, and relaxed atmosphere. Makeup artist Yoshimura describes Keys' energy as magnetic, and hairstylist Melendez relishes their collaborative sessions. For stylist Bolden, the process becomes effortless due to Keys' excellent fashion sense and love for color.

Alicia Keys' luminous presence and magnetic energy shine through in every aspect of her digital cover shoot. From her radiant skin achieved with Keys Soulcare products to her unique braided hairstyle and bold fashion choices, Keys exudes a confidence and authenticity that continue to captivate audiences worldwide. As she continues to spread positivity and inspire others through her music and beauty endeavors, we eagerly anticipate her future projects and the light she will undoubtedly bring into every room she enters.
