Alice Beer appeared to irk viewers of This Morning as she returned to the studio after last being seen out and about near Westminster when the Queen was lying in state. The presenter and consumer journalist joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for her latest segment which focused on the 'must-have microwaves'.
Many people are turning to their trusty pinging machine during the cost of living crisis as they cost less to run than a conventional oven. However, Alice claimed that microwaves haven’t been used since the 1980s - and viewers of the ITV daytime show weren't having any of it.
"‘Mothers all over the country will be watching this with interest… The microwave – basically, we put it away after the ’80s didn’t we?" she said to the show's hosts while surrounded by different brands and variations of the kitchen appliance.

She went on: "We used it as a shelf since the 80s, it became very unfashionable and untrendy. Now it is its time to shine. This is the most cost-effective little thing you’ve got in your kitchen."
Alice then added: "If you’ve got one – you put it in your garage, or you’ve got one in your kitchen and you’re not using it – get it out, dust it down, let’s use it."
But her opening remarks didn't go down well with This Morning viewers who flocked to Twitter to comment. @bethanlooms tweeted: "What universe are #ThisMorning in where they think people aren't using microwaves anymore?" @schon74 typed: "When did microwaves evry go out of fashion? Never heard of anyone moth balling a microwave #ThisMorning."

@Dayjur11 shared: "Alice might've binned her microwave at the end of the 1980's but most people didn't. #ThisMorning." @coxyhockeychick said: "No Alice people STILL use a microwave! #ThisMorning." @vamplacey commented: "Alice, it's not just mothers who use microwaves you know #ThisMornin.
@R1cky_Rees joked: "#ThisMorning saying nobody has used microwaves since the 1980s.. that's because we've all switched to the Nigella Lawson sponsored Mickro Warvay. It's like a microwave in everyway but it's... Erm..."
Others, however, became disgruntled when they discovered the price of some of the microwaves on display. @TashAmaka tweeted: "Who tf is spending £419 on one damn microwave. Know your audience! #thismorning." @HayleyWillz46 wrote: "419.00 for a microwave [mind blown emoji] #ThisMorning."
@Boppity_Boo34 posted: "£419 chuffing hell #ThisMorning." @leeleeCThomas fumed: "£419 for f**k sake, read the room but #thismorning." @Rise_and_grind7 sarcastically shared: "£419, il have two #Thismorning."
