Celtic have been warned they’ll have to stump up the cash if they want to sign Ali McCann.
The Hoops watched the Northern Irish international in St Johnstone’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren at Hampden and are understood to be interested in signing the midfielder.
McCann helped Callum Davidson’s side to a historic cup double this season, lifting both the Betfred and the Scottish while claiming a top six spot in the Scottish Premiership.
Plenty of clubs have the 21-year-old on their radar this summer after a stellar season that has impressed those watching at Celtic.
But Saints chairman Steve Brown will only consider selling his prized asset if the Perth club receive a record fee for him.
"There's been a huge amount of interest in Ali,” he said.
"He's been consistent over the last two seasons and is going away with Northern Ireland on international duty.
"He's played against Italy in the last international break and he's a class act.
"Our transfer record is £1.75million and Ali will not be leaving for any less than that.
"We don't want players to leave when we have a successful team.
"Selling players is one thing but replacing them is another - it's a huge challenge to get the same calibre of player back in."
