Algiers' new album: From anxiety and alienation to hope

ENCORE! FRANCE 24

Over the years, the band Algiers have slowly but surely been making a name for themselves through extensive touring and passionate music that combines, amongst others, the power of soul and punk with a dash of electronica. The band's founding members are originally from Atlanta, Georgia but it was in London that they formed in 2012 after they had spent a number of years living and studying literature and politics in the UK and France.

Whilst touring their first album in 2015, they picked up British drummer Matt Tong (former Bloc Party) who proved to be a perfect new addition to their tight, energetic live performances.

The four piece now live between London, New York and Atlanta and are kicking off 2020 with the release of their third studio album, "There Is No Year". Franklin James Fisher and Ryan Mahan sat down to tell us more about the music they are eager to tour.
