Algerian striker Hillal Soudani latest name to be linked with Nottingham Forest exit

Algerian striker Hillal Soudani is the latest Nottingham Forest player to be linked with a move to Greek giants Olympiacos

Soudani only joined Forest last summer from Dinamo Zagreb but endured an injury-plagued season at the City Ground, and last played when Aitor Karanka’s Reds were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League One side Burton Albion before Christmas.

According to reports in the Greek media, Soudani is wanted by Olympiacos as they look to regain the title after two years without silverware, having been linked with a move for Joao Carvalho just a few days ago.

The 31-year-old is continuing his recovery from the serious knee injury he picked up at the Pirelli Stadium in late November.

Earlier this year he spent a lengthy period out in Qatar at the Aspire Centre where he underwent rehabilitation, and for the last month, the frontman has been back in Algeria working with his coach to prepare for pre-season training at Forest later this month.

He enjoyed a fine start to his career at Forest,  following his summer move from Zagreb, scoring the City Ground winner over Reading with a fine curling effort, before netting the equaliser at Wigan in a 2-2 draw - but he then spent a month on the sidelines through a knee injury, before his long-term setback in Staffordshire.

Speaking previously, boss Martin O’Neill refused to rule out more moves between the two clubs owned by shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis.

“I cannot tell you for sure if there will be any exchanges, but I can safely tell you that the football Olympiacos is used to and that played here in the Championship is quite different,” he said.
