An Algerian journalist accused of writing a story that might harm the national interest has been acquitted. Mourad M'hamed was arrested four months ago after his paper, El Khabar, published a story about police recruitment based on a leaked document. The judge agreed that the story was in the public interest and found the journalist not guilty. But the policeman who passed him the memo was jailed for six months and fined.
