Algeria’s Interim President Abdelkader Bensalah has set up a six-member panel to oversee a national dialogue.

The dialogue will tackle ways to end the country’s crisis.

According to a presidential statement, Bensalah convened on Thursday with the panel’s members - Karim Younes, Fatiha Benabbou, Smail Lalmas, Bouzid Zahari, Abdul Wahab bin Jalloul and Izz al-Din bin Isa.

Bensalah expressed the authority’s intent to release detainees from the protest movement and allow public and media involvement in the dialogue. He further instructed state TV to broadcast the viewpoints of all factions.

The interim president noted that the authority assigned to lead the dialogue enjoys independence and has the power to propose measures that would contribute to calm and confidence building.

The national dialogue in Algeria aims to cover all aspects related to the organization of presidential elections.
