Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has postponed his official visit to Tunisia over coronavirus concerns, the Tunisian presidency said Friday.
The announcement was made in a statement posted on the Tunisian presidency’s Facebook account.
It said Tunisia's President, Kais Saied, received a phone call from Tebboune, who told him about postponing a two-day visit that he was scheduled to make on March 16.
The Algerian president told his Tunisian counterpart that the decision was the result of his country’s “health situation,” the statement said.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
In their phone conversation, they stressed the importance of finding an inter-Libyan solution to the country's conflict, the statement added.
Algeria has confirmed 37 cases of the coronavirus and three deaths.
