Algeria fans celebrate wildly on streets of north London after Africa Cup of Nations win

Hundreds of Algeria fans took to the streets of north London to celebrate widly after the team beat Senegal to win the Africa Cup of Nations.

Huge crowds gathered in Finsbury Park, letting off flares, fireworks and climbing on top of bus stops to celebrate the 1-0 win.

A huge crowd also gathered in Trafalgar Square after the north African country won its first AFCON title in 29 years.

Groups of jubilant fans walked along Blackstock Road in north London waving the country’s white and green flag, while others climbed onto the front of City and Islington College to lead chants.

Fans were also spotted celebrating on Old Kent Road after Baghdad Bouedjah’s second-minute strike secured Algeria the trophy.

Elsewhere, tens of thousands of Algerians in France held street parties, with major gatherings in Paris, Lyon and Marseille.
