Alfresco rebate for NSW restaurants

Dominic Perrottet says the rebate will help NSW businesses capitalise on the state's sunny weather. (AAP)

Cafes, pubs and restaurants that open or expand outdoor dining areas in NSW may now be eligible for an alfresco rebate

Premier Dominic Perrottet said the $5000 rebate would allow businesses to take advantage of the state's "desirable, sunny weather".

"Whether you're a cafe in Western Sydney, a restaurant in a regional community or a pub on the coast, this is about providing businesses with more choice and convenience," Mr Perrottet said.

The rebate is capped to the first 5000 successful applicants.

Minister for Digital and Customer Service Victor Dominello said business owners could apply for the rebate online and if approved it could be claimed from late February.

"We know being outside is the safest way to enjoy ourselves during the pandemic, and this rebate will make it easier for businesses to embrace everything outdoor dining has to offer," Mr Dominello said.

The funding is part of the government's $66 million Alfresco Restart Package.
