Fabio Cardoso insists Rangers will struggle to hold onto Alfredo Morelos next year as he heaped praise on the Ibrox club.
The defender is back in his homeland after spending a year in Glasgow under the failed stewardship of Pedro Caixinha.
He's now impressing with Santa Clara in the Portuguese top flight and reckons Steven Gerrard's men will struggle to keep Morelos next summer.
Lille tried hard to sign him this time around with Rangers rejecting bids worth £16million and although it had an effect on Morelos' form initially, the Colombian has looked back to his best in recent weeks.
And Cardoso told the Sunday Mail: "It will be hard for Rangers to keep Alfredo for much longer.
“He’s done very well there, he’s a goal machine. He’s a physical player who has improved a lot in Scotland.
“He has worked hard to improve and be smarter on the pitch.
“But if I had to make a prediction, I’d say that Alfredo will move in the next year.”
The Portuguese centre back played alongside James Tavernier and he's backed the Rangers captain to lead the club to success.
Tavernier has often been criticised for not showing leadership skills but Cardoso insists he's always been top drawer in that department.
He added: “Even when things didn’t go well for us, I knew the quality was there with Tavernier both in matches and in training.
“He’s a great captain for Rangers and I don’t know any right-back around who scores half the amount of goals that Tav does.
“He’s good at defending, good with the ball and scores goals so he’s fantastic.”
