Alfredo Morelos transfer update as Rangers in 'no hurry to sell' Porto target

Rangers will reportedly hold firm amid major interest in Alfredo Morelos from Porto as he gets set for a return to Glasgow after Colombia's gut-wrenching Copa America exit.

The 25-year-old wasn't in the matchday squad as Lionel Messi's Argentina secured a place in the Final with a dramatic 3-2 penalty shoot out win.

Steven Gerrard revealed at the weekend his Rangers talisman is set for a period of rest before he returns to the squad ahead of their pivotal Champions League qualifiers.

And now transfer specialist Ekrem Konur claims the Ibrox side are ready to play the long game over their key man with Porto leading the chase to secure his signature.

He wrote on Twitter: "Glasgow Rangers have rejected Porto's offer.

"A lot of teams are showing interest in Alfredo Morelos. Glasgow Rangers will be in no hurry to sell."

Morelos is a hot commodity 12 months on from Lille's interest in the forward as he played a key role in his side's Premiership title romp.

He scored 17 goals - the lowest tally in his four seasons - but his hold-up play and ability to link with his fellow attackers were vital both domestically and in the Europa League.
