Alfredo Morelos transfer latest as Steven Gerrard makes international break expectations clear

Steven Gerrard expects Alfredo Morelos to still be a Rangers player after the coming international break despite intense transfer speculation.

The Colombian striker was left out of the Light Blues' Premiership clash against Kilmarnock last week after Gerrard noticed a dip in his application in training.

He returned to the bench for Saturday's fixture at Hamilton but did not make an appearance.

Lille remain his main suitors after having a bid strongly rejected by Rangers chiefs earlier this month.

Gerrard is unsure if the Ligue 1 club will return with another bid given the recent developments regarding Morelos' place in the team - but he believes the frontman will remain at Ibrox at least over the international fixtures.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Gerrard said: "I'm taking each day as it comes, in terms of Alfredo.

"He's trained really well this week, but I really can't control what other teams are going to do.

"All I've got to do is manage the situation on a daily basis and at the moment where we stand right now I'd expect to see him after the international break."
