Alfredo Morelos transfer latest as Rangers star 'knocks back' lucrative Qatar move

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has turned down a move to Qatar - according to a report.

Stars League leaders Al Duhail were linked with the Ibrox favourite earlier in June as they look to snap up talent from Europe.

Former Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic and ex-Bayern Munich centre-back Medhi Benatia have already agreed moves.

But the Daily Mail state Morelos will not be joining them.

The Colombian striker is said to remain content with life and Glasgow and would only consider leaving for a top European league.

Ligue 1 side Rennes have also been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, while the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Leicester City and Sevilla have been linked in the past.

Morelos bagged 29 goals for Rangers last season despite his form tapering off following the winter break.

He has returned to Scotland following football's coronavirus shutdown, having spent time in his homeland carrying out charity work.

The former HJK Helsinki frontman's contract at Ibrox runs until 2023.

Amid interest in Morelos from elsewhere, Rangers have considered a move for Anderlecht striker Kemar Roofe.

Boss Steven Gerrard was linked with the 27-year-old forward last summer before he left Leeds United for the Belgian outfit.
