Alfredo Morelos transfer latest as Rangers deny Crystal Palace move

Rangers have rubbished claims they have been told Crystal Palace are set to swoop for Alfredo Morelos.

And the Light Blues have yet to receive an enquiry for the Colombian striker in this summer’s transfer window.

Reports in Spain linked Roy Hodgson with a move for the 23-year-old who became the first Rangers frontman in a decade to bag 30 goals in a season last term.

Morelos has never hidden his desire to try his luck in England and Gers managing director Stewart Robertson claimed during a fans Q&A last season that the club would want a fee in the region of the £20 million Old Firm rivals Celtic banked from Moussa Dembele’s sale to Lyon.

Crystal Palace could be in the market for a striker with last season’s loan duo Jordan Ayew and Michy Batshuayi returning to Swansea and Chelsea respectively.

Wilfried Zaha is also on the verge of a mega-bucks move to Arsenal and Christian Benteke has flopped at Selhurst Park so Hodgson is on the lookout for a striker.

The south Londoners have a huge transfer kitty following the £50 million sale of full back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United and Zaha could move to the Gunners for a similar fee.

But Ibrox insiders categorically denied claims that that Morelos’ US-based agent Michael Gorman had informed them of interest from Palace.

The source told Record Sport: “Stewart Robertson has had disussions with the representative of Alfredo Morelos, as he does on a regular basis, and Crystal Palace weren’t mentioned.”
