Alfredo Morelos told he 'owes' Rangers another year as Ibrox legend highlights Steven Gerrard debt

Legend Ian Durrant believes Alfredo Morelos "owes" Rangers another year after Steven Gerrard stuck by the striker.

Morelos has been a key figure at Ibrox this term as Gerrard's side claimed the league trophy for the first time in a decade and impressed in Europe again.

Durrant was asked on the Blues Brothers podcast about the risk of Morelos leaving Govan after the Premiership title victory.

However, former midfielder believes the striker should repay the faith Steven Gerrard has shown in him and knock back any potential suitors.

Gerrard has brought the best out of the 24-year-old after he has been involved in several high-profile flashpoints.

Durrant also warned Morelos not to leave and risk missing out on a Champions League bid.

He said: "He's got a chance of playing Champions League football, and if he goes to another club he might not get another chance of playing Champions League.

"I hate going on about it because I think he's been a fantastic £1m buy, but he owes Rangers a wee bit. They stuck by him when it was all flying about, and the manager protected him.

"He's now got a young family in Scotland. You've got to think now you're winning things, with a fantastic manager, and once we get the crowds back I think we might just get the lure of keeping Alfredo.

"That wee chalice of the Champions League, if he goes to another club he might not get the Champions League.
