Alfredo Morelos suffers Copa America defeat as Rangers star 'analyses' Porto offer

Alfredo Morelos suffered Copa America disappointment after Colombia went down to Peru to deliver a blow to their quarter final hopes.

The Rangers striker and reported Porto target - whose preparations were hit when he tested positive for Covid-19 - made his first appearance at the tournament when he came on for the final nine minutes of the 2-1 loss.

It was the 24-year-old’s eleventh cap for his country as he was thrown on as an 81st minute replacement for right back Stefan Medina with Colombia chasing an equaliser.

But the Peruvians managed to hold out for a vital three points as they bounced back from their 4-0 hammering by hosts Brazil in their opener.

Sergio Pena put Peru ahead in Sao Paulo but Miguel Borja equalised from the spot, only for Everton defender Yerry Mina.

Morelos and Colombia now face the Samba star hosts in Rio de Janeiro in their final match on Wednesday.

Colombia defeated Ecuador in their first match before being held to a scoreless draw by Venezuela.

One team misses out from the five-team group for a place in the last eight and Colombia are currently three points ahead of bottom side Ecuador but have played a game more.

Morelos is said to be considering an offer from Porto who have once again been linked with the striker who has been vital to Steven Gerrard with Rangers looking for around £20 million for the player.
