Alfredo Morelos should be dumped in Rangers reserves if he doesn't make speedy Ibrox return – Hotline

Celtic might look a tad undercooked for the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland but Parkhead punters have urged their pals to keep the faith in Ange Postecoglou.

The Hoops boss is barely in the door and some fans reckon they might need to accept a couple of early bumps in the road in Europe – and even against Rangers at the end of next month.

Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “I hope Celtic supporters will not go ballistic if the qualifier turns out badly for the team.

“The true worth of the new manager, only brought in on June 10 and still trying to bring in the type of player he prefers, will not be seen until a couple of months into the season when he has his team out there performing in the way he coaches them to perform.

“Expect a couple of rocky results before the team gets its act together and that might well include the first result against their rivals.”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “Why are Celtic fans getting worried at the moment? It’s only been friendly games and the new manager is chopping and changing to work out the best formation to use.

“We won the two other games. At first I was worried as I'd never heard of this manager, but to say he could be out by Christmas is bit extreme. Let’s see how he does against Midtjylland and then judge.”

Gerry Milligan, Erskine, said: “Furuhashi looks a good signing. He’s two-footed, very quick, with good balance. I know everyone’s a superstar on YouTube but Postecoglou will surely have some command of Japanese after three years so that will help him settle. I have a good feeling about him.”

But Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Celtic should have gone to Scotrail for strikers rather than Israel after another poor performance and no goals against Preston. With the Champions League fixture looming it does not look good for the new manager and his new signings of misfits.”

Meanwhile Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “Maybe Brentford have finally watched videos of Kris Ajer's last two years performances and realised he’s never been worth big money. Celtic are looking for a mug to pay money for a player who’s a free agent in months.”

Over at Rangers, the future of Alfredo Morelos is the usual hot topic.

Robert Livingston, Palm Beach, said: “If Morelos doesn’t want to come back to Ibrox immediately the club should fine and suspend him, then stick him in the reserves. No one player is bigger than the club.

“Rangers have bent over backwards in every way to accommodate him through his troubled past, it’s time to show a bit of loyalty to your employer.”

Gers director John Gilligan’s bad blood over the Rangers financial collapse has riled up some.

Henry Fitzpatrick, Ontario, said: “John Gilligan says Rangers have scores to settle as they weren’t helped. What did he want? They broke the rules, they let their finances get into a mess, so that’s ok?

“Maybe ask Gretna and others how they feel. These people will never feel any shame.”

Meanwhile Kevin Lord, Drylaw, said: “Cruel as it sounds, Josh Doig has hardly completed 40 games for Hibs, usually being subbed, in front of zero fans. What are his credentials for a million plus transfer?”

Finally, Lewis Hamilton’s F1 weekend caused some stir.

Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: “The British Grand Prix was extremely controversial. George Russell gets a three place penalty yet Lewis Hamilton only gets a 10 second penalty for what’s considered the same offence, the only difference is was Lewis committed his offence on the fastest corner which put another driver’s life at serious risk.

“The stewards and the FIA should hang their heads in shame.”
