Alfredo Morelos sends defiant Rangers message as he shows his love for Steven Gerrard

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has posted a rousing social media update by showing his love for manager Steven Gerrard.

The 23-year-old's long-term Ibrox future is set to be up for discussion this summer with the player himself previously stating his desire to test himself in the English Premier League.

But he appears to only have eyes for Rangers, and specifically boss Gerrard, as he posted four pictures of himself and the Liverpool icon embracing on his Instagram account.

The Colombia international's post was accompanied with a love heart eyes and prayer emoji as he sent a cyrstal clear message to Rangers supporters.

Morelos endured a barren run before lockdown netting only once in 11 matches after the winter break as the Ibrox side's title tilt collapsed and Celtic raced clear.

The former HJK Helsinki forward has impressed many with his exploits in the Europa League but questions remain over his disciplinary record.

And former Ibrox star Charlie Adam believes the time is now for Morelos to reproduce his stirring for that was key at the end of 2019.

He said: “Every time someone has come in they (Rangers) have gone bang with a new contract, they've paid him, they've looked after him.

"I just think he needs to get his head right, settle down and go and produce the goods and go and score 30 goals and get Rangers to the top of the league, win the league.

"He's still young enough, he's still got plenty of years ahead of him to go and be that player that goes to the English Premier League if he can.

"There's always rumours that Newcastle maybe want him, he has to focus on being a Rangers player and winning the title and he'll be a hero anyway.

"I think Rangers have done everything and I think it's time he pays back or rewards Rangers for the time and effort Rangers have put in by leading by example next season."
