Ambitious Alfredo Morelos has paid tribute to Steven Gerrard and attributed his Colombia call-up to Ibrox boss.
The Colombian has also again admitted he dreams of a move to England's Premier League and believes his goals for Rangers can earn him a move south of the border.
Morelos has already scored 14 times in all competitions this season with his disciplinary issues appearing to be behind him.
Carlos Queiroz named the forward in the squad for friendlies against Chile and Algeria in Europe this week, after failing to make the cut over the summer.
But striker Morelos, on arrival at Colombia's Spanish training camp, made clear he has Gerrard to thank for his red-hot Premiership form.
He said: "I've spoken a lot to Steven Gerrard this season. It's thanks to him that I am here.
"He's just a good man-manager and a great coach.
"Things have gone really well for me at Rangers this season. I've scored in just about every game for them.
"It's not a secret that I admire the English Premier League. I have to keep scoring goals for Rangers if I am ever to get a chance of moving to a club there.
"I've been given a chance with the national team because Falcao is unavailable. He's a great player and I know he will be back soom, but I have to seize this opportunity.
"Right back from my Independiente Medellin days, I've always dedicated myself to working hard and improving my movement and my all-round game.
"I feel my rewards for that are scoring more goals. Now I would love to score my first goal for my country."
