Colombia's Copa America dream lives on but Alfredo Morelos was again the odd man out in a dramatic quarter-final win over Uruguay.
Rangers will have to wait a little longer for their star striker to return after a nail-biting penalty shootout win set up a clash with Argentina on Wednesday.
Boss Reinaldo Rueda left Morelos out of his squad for the second game running as Colombia moved within two matches of glory.
The 25-year-old was absent for a 2-1 group stage defeat to Brazil after being named as a sub against Ecuador and Peru, with a second-half appearance against the latter the extent of his on-pitch involvement so far.
But there's still time for Morelos to make an impact with the Colombians poised to take on Lionel Messi and Co in midweek.
And seeing his man get minutes on the pitch would be most welcome for Steven Gerrard, who insists he needs Morelos "fit and firing" when he does make it back to Glasgow.
The Rangers manager said: "Fantastic. We all know how proud Alfredo is to represent Colombia.
"He’s on the other side of the world but we still have our eyes on and still making contact and making sure he’ll do the right thing.
"When he finishes in the tournament he’ll have a short break and then come and join us for the rest of pre-season and we’ll try have him ready for game one as well.
"It’s important he does the right things when he stops until he comes back because he’ll have a very short pre-season and we need Alfredo to be fit and firing for the important games coming our way."
The defending Premiership champions will step up their pre-season preparations on Monday with a friendly against Partick Thistle at Firhill.
Gerrard's team are building towards crucial Champions League qualifiers, set to begin on August 3 or 4.
