Alfredo Morelos' Rangers vs Celtic sub rage fury in focus as Barry Ferguson reacts to Hampden moment

Barry Ferguson has no issues with Alfredo Morelos' Rangers sub rage after the striker kicked out at water bottles following his Hampden withdrawal.

Michael Beale decided to replace the Colombian in the latter stages of the game with Antonio Colak as the Light Blues chased a leveller in the League Cup Final. The hitman had brought his side back into the contest with a close-range finish following two strikes from Celtic hitman Kyogo Furuhashi for the holders.

Overall, the Rangers striker had a quiet game, despite his goal, and when brought off he vented his fury by kicking the drinks box in frustration. His disappointment was visible but Ferguson has no issues with his actions as he walked off insisting that he would rather see a player upset when subbed than just walking up to the bench and not bothering.

He explained on Go Radio: "I thought he had a pretty quiet game to be honest with you, he scored his goal and you could see he wasn't too happy when getting taken off. A lot of people might make a lot of that.

"I would rather see a player upset when he is getting taken off. Rather than just sauntering up to the bench and putting your coat on and not bothering. In terms of Rangers as a whole, they just didn't do enough to win the Cup."

Defeat at Hampden was a first for Beale in charge of Rangers. He had went on a long unbeaten streak since replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the Ibrox helm.

It's a tough order in the race for the Premiership crown with Celtic holding a nine point lead and so far not allowing the Light Blues to claw back any distance - despite the excellent run of results shown under Beale.

They've also got the Scottish Cup to fight for with Raith Rovers making the trip to Ibrox in the last eight as they bid to return to Hampden for a third time this campaign.
