Alfredo Morelos Rangers transfer price 'named' as Porto pursue cut price deal for striker

Porto are reportedly pursuing a cut-price deal for Alfredo Morelos as Rangers hold out a bumper pay day if the striker is to be sold.

The Colombian international is currently competing in the Copa America but speculation about his Ibrox future is shifting into overdrive.

Morelos was close to leaving last summer after a bid from Lille, with manager Steven Gerrard admitting that the striker's head had been turned.

Record Sport understands his agent was recently in Portugal over discussions with other clients rather than working on Morelos' future.

A fee of £10m has been mooted but that is unlikely to get the attention of the club who are looking to build ahead of their Champions League qualifying tilt.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claim that Sergio Conceicao's side are willing to pay out a fee of €12million for the Colombia cap this summer.

However, Rangers are demanding at least €17million before they come to the table over a deal.

Morelos was signed from HJK for £1million back in 2017, and the report claims they will be due 10 per cent of any future transfer sum.

Talks between the player and Portuguese giants are said to be at an "advanced stage" with the 25-year-old "enthusiastic" about a switch.

With Porto exiting Financial Fair Play sanctions Rangers are likely to play hardball if they are to sell their talisman.

He's hit 94 goals in 182 games for the club and was a key man as they lifted the Premiership title last season.
