Alfredo Morelos' Rangers transfer link remains as talent spotter Luis Campos wins Lille boardroom battle

Luis Campos has won his boardroom battle at Lille - a move that may result in a rekindled bid for Alfredo Morelos in January or beyond.

It had been reported that Campos was set to leave the club after a bitter internal power struggle, a move that would leave their interest in limbo.

He has been embroiled in a battle for control of football affairs with the club's director general Marc Ingla but it has now emerged that his rival will be the one to leave.

President Gerard Lopez has accepted Ingla's resignation in a move that makes the former Monaco star-spotter much more likely to remain in post.

The Portuguese is one of Europe's highest rated talent scouts and was the driving force behind the French club's summer move for the Rangers striker.

A £16.5m bid was rejected by the Ibrox club despite personal terms having already been agreed between the striker and the Ligue 1 club.

Rangers were adamant that no deal would be agreed unless their valuation of around £20m was met and so it proved as Morelos ended up remaining in Glasgow.

The striker has a deal until 2023 so the club are under no pressure to see their star depart.

Lille splashed nearly £27m on Canadian striker Jonathan David to bolster their attacking armoury but he's had a poor start to life in France.
