Alfredo Morelos Rangers transfer latest as Lille 'waiting game' hands boost to 3 signing suitors

In-demand Alfredo Morelos remains a "long way" from agreeing a deal with cash-rich Lille - according to a report.

The Rangers striker has been linked with a clutch of clubs but the Ligue 1 big-hitters remain the favourites to secure a deal for the Ibrox talisman.

Foot Mercato claim the 24-year-old remains high on Christophe Galtier's agenda but Gent striker Jonathan David remains the key signing target.

And the outlet understands three other European sides have been boosted after no deal was agreed between Lille and Rangers despite fervent speculation last week.

Sevilla and Brighton have been linked in the past and now Serie A upstarts Sassuolo have also been credited with an interest.

And the link with a move to Italy comes only 24 hours after Bologna were tipped to test Rangers' resolve for a player who netted 29 goals last season.

Morelos' Rangers future has been complicated further by the arrival of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten in a twin striker swoop worth around £8.5million.

Steven Gerrard backed his talisman at the weekend and Morelos is in the squad for tomorrow's crunch Europa League last 16 clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Phillipe Albert reckons Roofe is the man Rangers can place their faith in the Ibrox club's hunt for trophies.

He added: “I feel the British style of football will be better for Kemar because tactically it’s more open in Scotland than it is in Belgium and he needs space.

“I believe he’ll score between 12 and 20 goals if he plays week in, week out at Rangers. He is very quick and he scored a few goals for Anderlecht but he should have done better."
