Alfredo Morelos Rangers transfer latest as Lille boss makes 'arrivals' claim amid striker struggles

Lille boss Christophe Galtier says he expects any departures to be replaced, as he admits big money striker Jonathan David is struggling.

The Ligue 1 side have had a £17million bid knocked back for Alfredo Morelos, but could come back in for the Colombian before the window shuts.

The Rangers striker scored twice against Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa League win on Thursday, and is believed to be keen on a move to France.

And while manager Steven Gerrard has urged El Bufalo to stay, Lille's coach admits his big money summer signing is struggling.

Galtier said: "He (David) is young, he seems to be quite immune to the pressure of his transfer fee.

"He knows he's far below his level, but he can count on me and his team-mates.

"He had a truncated pre-season while waiting for a transfer.

"He arrived behind in everything, so that means he needs sessions and, especially games."

Lille could also be set to lose some big names before the end of the transfer window, most notably Jonathan Ikone.

The French international has been linked with Leicester, and Galtier expects a replacement in attack if Ikone departs.

He said: "Right now I'm focused on preparing the matches and the competitions we're competing in.

"October 5 is still a long way away in my eyes, we have three games before then.

"I'm focused on what to do with my current squad. I'm sure the president and Luis (Campos) are working and any outgoings will be matched by arrivals.

"It's fine that I'm not kept in the loop, I'm focused on the matches and it doesn't affect my decisions."
