Dundee skipper Charlie Adam insists Alfredo Morelos would not be moving to a bigger club if he left Rangers for Porto.
The Ibrox talisman gave an interview to Radio Caracol expressing his hope he'll get a move in the near future.
During the on-air chat, Morelos admitted he hoped he would get the chance to play in a "better league" as he addressed transfer speculation.
The Colombian was heavily linked with a move away from the Scottish Premiership throughout the window with Porto reported to be among the keeping tabs on the striker.
Adam insisted that Sergio Conceicao's side were far from a bigger club than Rangers, as he played down the idea that it would be a step up in quality the 25-year-old.
When asked on the PLZ Football Show if Morelos was ready to play for a team in the Champions League group stage, Adam said bluntly: “It’s only him that is stopping the deal (with his performances).
When asked if he was good enough to play for “a better club in a bigger league", Adam continued: “In the Portuguese league, is Porto a bigger club than Rangers? Absolutely not.
“You talk about a bigger league; yes they have got some good team. Your Lisbon and Benfica and things like that, but to talk about bigger clubs I don’t see it.
“It’s only him that can get that move, because he need to start scoring goals regularly again and put in some good performances.”
