Steven Gerrard admitted he had no idea when Alfredo Morelos would be returning to Glasgow.
But the Rangers striker’s wife has at least offered a clue that Morelos is back on his way to Scotland ahead of the league campaign starting this weekend.
Yesenia is active on Instagram and posted a photo at Bogota’s El Dorado International airport late on Saturday night.
And unless she was travelling alone, it suggests Morelos was starting his long journey to Scotland.
The 25-year-old was given an extended break after he was included in Colombia’s Copa America squad.
Gerrard didn’t offer an exact date of return for Morelos when asked about his frontman last week, saying only: “He is due back at some point, we're not sure when but hopefully he'll arrive when he's ready.”
But Yesenia has hinted at a return and it can’t come too soon for the player with new competition for a starting place in Gerrard’s ahead of the big Scottish Premiership kick off.
Fashion Sakala and Cedric Itten both scored in the impressive pre-season friendly win over Real Madrid at Ibrox on Sunday.
And the pair will be hoping that has done enough to earn them a place in the team against Livingston for the big opener.
Morelos has been linked with a move away from Ibrox with Porto reportedly interested in the international.
