Alfredo Morelos racism row takes new twist as Rangers striker abuse is reported by Kilmarnock fan

Cathy Jamieson has confirmed it was a Kilmarnock who fan approached the club to report that Alfredo Morelos was racially abused on Wednesday night.

A audio clip emerging online in the wake of the Kilmarnock vs Rangers clash with claims the Ibrox striker was on the receiving end of vile racist slurs, allegedly being called a 'black b*****d' from the home end while taking a throw in.

The Ayrshire club have launched an investigation into the incident and says they will ban the supporter if the person is found guilty.

And club director Jamieson, representing the Killie Trust, has backed the club's zero tolerance stance.

She said on Twitter: "Kilmarnock has made it clear that there is no place for racism or any other form of discrimination at our club. We will take action and if we can identify the person involved they will not be allowed back to Rugby Park.

A Kilmarnock fan on Twitter then responded to Jamieson suggesting that there might not be any substance to the claims because the audio is not conclusive.

But she confirmed it was a Kilmarnock fan who raised the issue to the Rugby Park outfit and insisted they need to get their 'own house in order'.

She replied: "Actually it was a Killie fan who raised the issue so while it might be thought that there are some deflection tactics, we need to put our own house in order!"

The Killie trust released a statement, saying: "The Killie Trust and the Kilmarnock FC Supporters Association welcome the swift response by Kilmarnock Football Club and echo their words on the alleged instance of racism on Wednesday night.

"We are proud of the fact that Kilmarnock Football Club - and its supporters - are inclusive, open and welcoming. We are a community club. As supporters’ groups, we are committed to doing everything we can to assist the club - and to protect the good name of both the club and its supporters.

"We encourage anyone with information to come forward. The Killie Trust and the Kilmarnock FC Supporters Association are anti-racism organisations."

Boss Alex Dyer has also condemned the flashpoint and says the club will kick out any racists.

He said: "If anyone has got any information that can help find the person who has did this then they will obviously be banned from the football club because we won't tolerate anything like this.

"My message is the football club doesn't need anyone with those thoughts. Stay away. We don't want anyone with that mentality around this football club.

"Kilmarnock have been brilliant. Obviously I'm sitting in this position because the club has given me an opportunity to manage it. As you can see I'm a black man but that never came into it at all. I was hired because of my ability and long may that continue.

"Yeah (Wednesday's incident) is alarming. But what can you do? That's one or two individuals. It's not the majority. This is a great football club and a great town to live in with good people. One or two ain't going to spoil it for the rest."

The audio does appear to be inconclusive but fans are adamant the clip is clear evidence of racial abuse."
